Our Story · Roman Köhler

35 years in manufacturing. Always the same questions: faster, better, cheaper?

I've built factories, run supply chains across three continents, and been responsible for quality in 13 plants — from GARDENA to China. Today I do the same thing for your business: one workflow at a time.

Stations that made me a systems architect

A line through decades of industry. Every station taught me something that's now built into AURELIA.

  1. 1985

    The foundation: precision engineering

FH Ulm · Dipl.-Ing. (FH) · Medical Technology & Quality

Precision from the ground up — precision engineering with a focus on medical technology and quality management. Graduated as an engineer (grade 1.8, German scale). This is where I learned to make the smallest things exact and reliable.

  2. 1990

    Starting out at GARDENA

    Ulm · Product Quality

Responsible for the "automatic irrigation" product group — across the entire product lifecycle. Here I learned to think about products from the customer's and the field's point of view.

  3. 2000

    Building factories — in China

GARDENA · Czech Republic · China

Project lead for an assembly plant for garden tools — 500,000 units a year. First supplier development in China. Individual parts become series production across continents.

    Manufacturing and suppliers in China
  4. 2008

    Processes & China projects

GARDENA Manufacturing · Processes & Methods

Head of Processes & Methods and Supplier Quality. China OEM project for garden pumps with €10 million in revenue. Integrated quality into the LEAN production system.

  5. 2010

    Scaling internationally

    Husqvarna Group · Director Quality

Director Manufacturing & Supplier Quality across 13 plants in Europe. Reduced supplier defect rate from 2,500 to under 200 ppm — across 7 plants.

  6. 2014

    Global responsibility

BMZ · Global Head of Quality & Service

Four plants: China, Germany, Poland, USA. Lithium-ion production, safety issues with customer escalations — and complaints reduced by 80% over five years.

BMZ — battery production, manufactured metal parts
  7. 2021

    Maturity & systems

SECO Northern Europe · Head of Quality

Management systems, configuration management for payment systems, building external capacity. Making complex systems manageable — clean, certified, calm.

  8. 2024

    Batteries for Daimler buses

    BMZ Poland · Automotive · ~9 months

Right after that: building battery production for Daimler buses in Poland — including supplier qualification to the strict standards of the automotive industry. High-security, highly regulated.

  9. In parallel

    Digitalization & marketing for TheHorseSeller

    Icelandic horses · 2,500+ sold · 99% satisfaction

Our own Icelandic-horse business — and my real-world lab. This is where I built the entire customer journey myself: an online horse finder, consultation and trial-ride appointments booked with a click, our own inspection and quality system (the SAFE seal), and honest guidance instead of sales pressure. This exact method became AURELIA.

  10. Today

From quality manager to systems architect

    AURELIA Intelligence

Making decades of complexity manageable — now for small businesses. The supply chain becomes your customer flow, the inspection plan becomes a workflow you approve. Same discipline, new field.

Today

One workflow first.

The same question as back then on the line: how do you make the complicated simple, safe, and predictable? Today I start with a single workflow in your business — and only expand once it runs reliably.
